Harrisonburg Virginia is my adopted home, having moved here for the blossoming community and the natural beauty surrounding town, my growing family is committed to setting down roots here.
After working in bicycle shops for nearly a decade, I got the opportunity to work in the professional advocacy realm as the Safe Routes to School coordinator for Harrisonburg. While in that position there was a chance to moonlight as a bicycle delivery person with Giddy Up! Courier. I realized how much I enjoyed being on the street, meeting people and being out and about in town. The pedicab is all about those experiences. Friendly City Pedicab is born from a desire to continue normalizing using bicycles to get wherever you want to go. Riding a bike is fun and we want to help everyone utilize this clean, sustainable form of transportation, even if you don't want to pedal in the moment.
Our pedicab is handmade here in the United States by Coaster in Montana. They feature seating for up to three passengers, including seatbelts, as well as some protection from the sun. Running lights, turn signals, and an electric assist make for both quick and safe trips.
Friendly City Pedicab generally operates in the downtown area in what we like to call “the zone”. You can find us pedaling from the Little Grill onto the JMU campus and down to Backcountry on S. Main, as well as the vicinity of Three Notched Brewery over to Bella Luna and Cuban Burger. This is where we hangout, but there is no limit as to how far we can go. We climb Port Republic to Devon Lane almost every night, so please don't hesitate to ask for a ride that might sound ridiculous. We are doing what we love!
Hours of operation

Here at Friendly City Pedicab, we specialize in short trip transportation. That means we are in the business of giving people rides. Our work is in the streets of downtown so that's where you will most likely find us. The simplest way to get a ride is to wave when you see the cab. You can also make a reservation ahead of time either by phone/text or email. If you are out and want a ride, you can always text or use the Pedicab Go app to get our attention.
Did you want me to pick up your CSA from the Friendly City Food COOP and deliver it right to your house? We can do that. We're out there moving things and people by bike. Why not let us run an errand for you? Email for rates.
The easiest way to find us! Download the FREE Pedicab Go app. The app will show you if we're working and where we are. It makes it super easy for you to also tell us where you are and ask for a ride. Really it's amazing. We live in the future!
You can always reserve our services before hand for all jobs, big and small. Did you want to hire the cab by the hour? Want us to shuttle guests for your wedding? We'd be happy to be a part of your special day, especially if it means we get to dress up! We can go on a tour of town, look at houses with a realtor. Limos are expensive, but why not make your date a little bit extra special?
TRIPS around 10 MINUTES
Generally rides within "the zone” cost between 5-7$. For instance, if you wanted to go from Billy Jack's on Main to Brother's Brewery and there are three people, price would be 7$. If it were only one or two people then it would be 5$. Pricing for longer trips (over 10 min.) will be estimated beforehand.

Answers to the most frequently asked questions...
Q. Did you build this yourself?
A. Nope. Coaster Cycles in Montana makes our pedicabs, they are way better at it than us.
Q. How far can you go?
A. As far as you need to go. I'm comfortable pedaling long distances, and we have an hourly rate. So far we are undefeated, with a 100% delivery rate.
Q. How much did this thing cost?
A. I know you're curious, but would you ask a chef how much his stove cost or your Lyft driver what they paid for their car?
Q.Is this your only job?
A. I'm certainly trying to make it so. I have some other bicycle related work that I do, as well as taking care of my family.
Q. Does this thing have a motor?
A. Yep. The pedicab has an electric assist motor that can be turned off and on. It doesn't make it easy, it just makes it so we can say "Yes!" to every ride.
Q. Can I pedal it?
A. Yes, for 25$ an hour you can pedal me around while I offer words of encouragement. It's a great workout. :)
Q. How many people fit in a cab?
A. There is a weight limit of 500lbs of passenger. That can look like five 100 pound, 10 year old children, or two large adults. Usually three adult size people fit nicely, if they're friends.
Q. Are you the only one doing this?
A. This is the only pedicab service in Harrisonburg. You will begin to see more operators around town as we add more cabs to the fleet.
Q. Is it heavy/ hard to pedal?
A. The pedicab alone weighs around 150 lbs. A full load of passengers and operator moving down the road weighs about 800 lbs. All said and done, the machine pedals extremely well and is a ton of fun to ride.
